What to Include in a Wire Harness RFQ

A complete RFQ gets you an accurate quote in one round instead of three. These are the details we ask for on every new harness, and why each one matters.
1. A drawing, a sample or a clear photo
A drawing with lengths, connector positions and wire colours is best. If you only have an existing harness, send it as a sample and we will draw it up for your approval.
2. Wire specification
- Gauge (AWG or mm²) for each circuit
- Insulation type and temperature rating, if specified
- Colours, or a colour code table
- Cut length and strip length at each end
3. Connectors and terminals
List the housing and terminal part numbers at each end. If you are open to equivalents, say so. We can often supply our own 2.5 mm or 2.54 mm housings that fit the same PCB layout.
4. Jacketing, labels and packing
Note any sleeving, tape, heat-shrink, wire markers or barcode labels, and how parts should be bagged and boxed.
5. Quantities and timing
Give the sample quantity, the first order quantity and the expected annual volume, plus your target date for samples.
| Item | Example |
|---|---|
| Wire | UL1007 24 AWG, red / black, 300 mm |
| Connector A | 2.5 mm 4P housing + terminals |
| Connector B | Quick-disconnect terminal, insulated |
| Quantity | 50 samples, 5,000 / year |
